NATES CYCLES

My good buddy Nate Has a shop in Tacoma WA called Nates Cycles. He Texted me a few pics of his Triumph today. Mid winter Nate had set a Goal for himself to get the scooter done in time for the Born Free Motorcycle show in L.A. Like Most deadlines it crept up on him, and early May he realized if he didn't get to paint soon he wasn't going to make it. He really wanted Brandon at altissimo in Napa Ca to paint his bike, The thing is Nate lives in Tacoma Wa. At this point he was cutting it close so he decided to go all or nothing, and on Mothers Day the thrash began when His loving wife drove his tank, fender, and oil bag down to Brandon, (a road trip is an awesome mothers day gift by the way) meanwhile he was finishing some fabrication and got all the other parts to the chromer, Nate drove down to the Bay Area on the 17th. Brandon finished the paint on the 18th, then Nate jammed back To Tacoma, assembled the bike turned around and Drove from Tacoma to L.A. straight on the 23rd set up for the show Friday and texted me these pics. In a few days I'll post some detail shots once he sends me some. Nice Job Nate!

ROOTS Magazine came over today to shoot the shop and interview me for there mag, they also did and interview with David Perry and Shot him shooting a pin-up. I was very Honored to have them at my shop, so I kept the goofing off to a minimum. Also today was the first time my bike has been off the lift and outside!

About 10 years ago my friend Rusty built a 1960 Cadillac with 65 T bird interior. It was A nice car but never got buttoned up. In fact when My friend Josh scored me a 59 caddy, I ripped rusty off, and put T bird interior in it. Last week Rusty sold me his 60 and I vowed to finish it. ....unless you want it:)

From Hank of nor-cal knock out "We are proud to announce that we will have several of late Stan Dishong’s bikes on display at NorCal KnockOut “Round 2” July 2:nd.
The most brutal and beautiful bike he ever built will be at the show on display.
“The Hog” was built in the late 50’s, based on a Harley with a 96 cui engine.
Stan built the engine himself, with double chain driven overhead cams, and a fuel injection.
In 1958 he ran mid 9’s on the 1/4 mile, with elapsed times at 130 mph.
Back in 1965 he sat a trackrecord at Lions Dragstrip with a 147 mph pass.
Stan and “The Hog” was never defeated on the track, and he went on to win over 200 races.
Stan Dishong successfully ran his motorcycle business for nearly 30 years out of his shop in Vallejo, Ca!"

First thing I did was scribble what I wanted on scratch paper, Took a picture of it, Then texted it to my sister who owns I sign shop in Sacramento called City Signs. one week later I had this!

Its long been said that the 1937 ford coupes are rare because they were the number one choice for hardtop racing. I found this picture of Oakland Speedway in 1952 at the Petaluma Peddlers fair this last Sunday. There appears to be 14 37's on the track. multiply that by hundreds of city's and towns across the US every weekend. that's ALLOT of 37 getting destroyed.

I got my Evo bike in a trade. the engine is an S&S Evo motor with fake pan tops and it had a fake kidney cover, I can live with the pan tops but the Kidney cover just looks to fake, and I have a real pan head, so I can just let the Evo be an Evo. I cut the front of the cover off, shaved the fins off, and hammered out a points cover that clears the Dyna ignition.
