I found a box of these old postcards today under a bench. Seems like forever ago David Perry did this shoot at my old shop. Back then It was Seret Hot Rods & customs, then it was Seret Speed & custom, then Seret Speed, now its Seret, next it will be just a gargling sound.

Worst Interview ever!

I sat down with Kirk Jones for an interview last week, it went like this


Kirk- Hey Matt How’s living the dream going?
Matt- Great!
Kirk- Did you watch dancing with the stars last night?
Matt- Ya, best thing on T.V.
Kirk- Really?
Matt- No, actually I’ve never seen it
Kirk- Ya me either
Matt- These are stupid questions
Kirk- sorry, I forgot to write questions before I came over
Matt- Totally unprofessional
Kirk- So you own 4 hot rods, 2 choppers, and a land speed car, what’s your favorite?
Matt- I couldn’t tell you none of them are running
Kirk- Why Not?
Matt- I don’t know my friend Ezio says he thinks I have A.D.D.
Kirk- Do you?
Matt- Um, no its just my customer take priority
Matt- Its dark in this bee head I cant see anything
Kirk- I know
Matt- Are you touching my leg
Kirk- Um…no
Kirk- A tree fell over in my yard last weekend
Matt- so what, why are you telling me this.
Kirk- I’m just stalling while I think of another question
Kirk- Have any heroes
Matt- No
Kirk- So what’s next
Matt- Well my customer cars are usually top secret till they debut,
But as far as my cars I put the Seret Speed Sportscar on hold till I finish one chopper and
Throw my model A roadster together
Kirk- I think you have A.D.D. too
Matt- Jerk, the sportscar is going to take 2 years I want to drive something this summer
Kirk-What does your wife think?
Matt- She gave up on keeping up years ago, but I think she holds a big life insurance policy on me, because she told me to feel free and ride choppers, speed and go land speed racing
Kirk- rad!
Matt- I know I can totally kill myself guilt free
Kirk- well that’s about all the questions I have
Matt- get your hand off my leg
Kirk- sorry I forgot

MEXICO safest place on earth

The El-Diablo run is coming up, if you don't know, its a motorcycle rally from Temecula Ca. to Ensenada Mex. and back. Because by motorcycle isn't done I probably wont make it this year. Kirk sent me an email that read "what you'll be missing" and this mp3... Bastard!!

the cursed tank

I have half of a 1948 Indian gas tank, I held it up to the evo bike and liked the way it looked, a little less chopper and a little more flat tracker. So I copied it and made a complete tank but when I put it on the bike I didn't like it, it was just to big. So I threw it away, but I had four hours in it, so I took it out of the trash and figured I could cut it down. I gave it more of a sporster tank shape by triming three inches of the back. I still didn't like so I threw it away again, but I couldn't walk away. I took it out of the trash again and finished it. I still dont like it much. Maybe I can force myself to like it, or I can always throw it away.

Joe Hunt Magnetos

when I was a teenager my grandfather was helping me work on my old 54 truck, to test for spark he had me hold a spark plug wire in my hand while he turned the starter over, When I screamed he knew we had spark. I just got this new magneto from Joe Hunt for the sports car. Allot more juice than stock points, tester wanted

Robs Merc.

Built by Ralph Finley this Merc has been around the block, and about 20 different colors. He sold it to Rob Struven a couple of years ago, Rob decided to rebuild it and make it his own. He brought it to the shop last year and had me cut the roof off and re-chop it. we ended up raising the windshield 1" and lowering the back of the roof about 4" I replaced the back window with one out of a 37 Plymouth. and I made all the hartop window frames. Thanks to Gasoline for the Mag!

went to C-51 customs today, saw this cool brass plate on Kirks bike. Its a shame to cover it with a licence plate.

there is something to be said for looking dapper while you race, but if my car catches fire, I prefer not to burn to death because I'm wearing a wool suit!

THE HUNT IS ON!!

When I was born my grandfather restored this 1954 GMC pick up for my parents, When I got into high school it became my first car. Only problem was I hated it, it broke down constantly, it was slow, and an ugly shade of Brown. When I moved out after high school it became my sisters first car. My sister drinking with her friends in a parking lot backed the truck into a poll with the passenger door open. The door twisted forward till the front of the door touched the front tire. My dad called and said "your sister wrecked the truck. do you want, it or can we sell it?" I said sell it, and I recently began to regret that decision. Ive decided to try and track it down and I have little to go on. The last I heard it was sold to A vineyard or Winery in Sonoma, but that was 15 or so years ago.
so with that info I began to compile a list of email address and phone numbers of all the winerys in Sonoma. The Hunt is on!!
